Mark Gibbas, CEO
Mark co-founded Weather Source in 2004 and has taken it from a small start-up to a leading provider of weather information. The early years of Weather Source were focused on providing quality weather information and consulting to businesses. During this time Mark created a vision of a scalable weather information system that could service thousands of clients and provide each with information specific to their needs. The result of this insight and effort became Weather Source’s OnPOINT Weather and related products, which today provide valuable information to a growing list of top-ranked companies.
Prior to starting Weather Source, Mark applied his meteorological, computer science, and leadership skills at Applied Insurance Research (AIR) and The Analytic Science Corporation (TASC). Notable accomplishments include developing long-range forecasting systems (this became the genesis of long-range forecasting at The Weather Company (WSI)) and technology to clean and correct weather data sets to understand climate risks. Mark has also worked for the World Meteorological Organization (WMO, part of the UN) where he worked to advance the meteorological capabilities of numerous Latin American countries.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology with minors in computer science and mathematics.
Craig Gilbert, Executive VP, COO
Craig co-founded Weather Source in 2004, assists with strategic planning, operations, and helps develop the most advanced, highest quality and easiest to use weather data products and services available.
Before Weather Source, Craig supported past, present and forecast weather data operations at Applied Insurance Research. Prior to that he assisted with technical development The Weather Channel. And before that, At The Analytic Science Corporation (Litton/TASC), he supported the technical development of weather data management applications for the Department of Defense.
Craig holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a master’s degree in meteorology and has published papers related to meteorology.
Craig Stelmach, VP of Business Development / General Counsel
Craig has more than 19 years of technology industry experience, including senior roles in business development and significant expertise and experience in business strategy.
In his previous role, Craig was CEO & General Counsel for a global value added reseller and systems integrator and was responsible for the development and implementation of a successful company wide sales and operations strategy.
In this role, Craig successfully managed 55+ employees in 6 separate sales offices in 6 states and was responsible for establishing the overall policies, strategies and goals for the entire company, including leading the recruitment effort for key employees.
Under Craig’s leadership, the company’s revenue increased by over 175% and in 2015, the company so its highest revenue in its history.
Craig also has significant operational experience and is able to help companies navigate successfully during periods of rapid growth. Throughout his career, Craig has lent his experience and expertise to such companies as Berkeley Communications, ADrive, Vector Data, Omni Ventures Group, Google, ITA Software, Boston Microfluidics, Inch of Daylight, Biderly and many more in a variety of markets. Craig’s mission is to provide exceptional products and service to Weather Source customers.
Jerry Lettre, Director of Customer Success
Jerry brings 20+ years of weather experience to his role at Weather Source. His weather experience includes providing weather information and briefings to utilities and energy traders, forecasts to broadcast media markets, and teaching “Introduction to Meteorology” courses. He also brings 25+ years of business experience that includes weather-solution market development, technology sales, strategic planning, and business development management.
Jerry holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with a meteorology concentration and a master’s in business administration. He shares his business expertise as a part-time lecturer at Franklin Pierce University.
Ryan Turkington, Director of Weather and Data Technology
Ryan raises the bar when it comes to the combination of weather, data, and software engineering. He is passionate about ensuring that all collected weather data is processed as efficiently and quickly as possible without sacrificing quality so that customers have the data they need at the click of a mouse. Ryan has 20+ years experience as a Software Engineer.
Prior to Weather Source, Ryan worked at TASC where he served as a key team member on the development of U.S. Department of Defense tactical decision aid that predicted the performance of Infrared, Visible, and Laser based weapon systems in various weather conditions. He also helped improve and implement new features for a computer model that generated visually realistic depictions of clouds for mission planning and flight simulators. Ryan also applied his engineering skills while at Raytheon to a highly mobile U.S. Army surface-to-air missile system, providing not only development support, but operational testing support as well. At Weather Services International, Ryan served as lead system admin, cluster architect, and engineer of a numerical weather prediction system that provided high resolution global forecast coverage.
Jeff King, Director of Internet Technologies
Jeff brings a passion for technology, strategy, and taking action to his role at Weather Source. Jeff has more than 15 years of web development experience and over 20 years of project management experience. He is proficient in front and back end web development. He architected our OnPoint API and continues to oversee its ongoing development. He is also our internal security advocate.
Previously, Jeff ran his own web development firm, where he was a valuable consultant to Weather Source.
Before putting on his geek glasses, Jeff was a project manager of billion-dollar redevelopment and construction projects, including the BRAC redevelopment of the Naval Training Center San Diego as Liberty Station.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UCSD.
